Rabbits, Chickens, and Veggies, hooray!
We have hand selected the best of the best rabbits - looking for excellence in temperament, health, and appearance. We have a small mixed herd of four does and three bucks. Each rabbit is snuggled daily, given highest quality food, fresh fruits and veggies, treats, and lots of play time. We believe our animals are part of our family and we are committed to responsibly breeding and raising them to make their lives comfortable, relaxing, and happy!
Much like our rabbits, we have hand selected for the best of the best! We have a small mixed flock that is allowed to safely free-range every day. Most of our hens lay colorful eggs, and many of them have feathered feet, which means their chicks are the cutest little things ever! They are all very docile and we've never had any issues mixing our heavy-breed hens like our Giant Cochins and Brahmas in with our smallest-breed hens like d'Uccles, Silkies, and Frizzles!
Located along the Santiam River in the Willamette Valley of the Pacific Northwest, we are blessed with beautiful soil. We start most of our veggies and fruits from seeds gathered off of the previous years' plantings. We grow a huge variety of your standard veg, along with some novelty items like ground cherries, cucamelons, komo komo squash, and luffa gourds. We do not use pesticides nor herbicides, and we practice biodynamic and companion planting!
West of Waterloo hosts workshops where we help people learn safe techniques for canning and food preservation. We look forward to sharing our recipes for a number of traditional, flavorful, and unique foods like plum sauce, tomato chutneys, cardamom-plum jam, salsas, apple butter, spicy pickles, lime pickles, blackberry jam, grape jelly, juices, liqueurs, peaches, pears, cranberry-pepper jelly, cowboy candy, fireweed syrup, and elderberry jelly!
